PITOM supports Aerial, Ground and Marine Unmanned Vehicle producers by providing customized Autopilots and Ground Control Stations (GCS). We challenge ourselves every day to help or customers increase market share by attracting the best talents and delivering state-of-the-art technology.
Founded in 2011 by former researchers at the Dept. of Energy and Systems Engineering at the University of Pisa, PITOM started its activity designing modular, flexible and scalable frameworks that we called piCORE and piMEGS, to rapidly customize Autopilots and GCS.
Frameworks have grown over time, and have been successfully customized on many kinds of unmanned vehicles, including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, multi-rotors, boats, robotic lawn-mowers, and also in specific applications in the railway and motorsport fields. We are currently involved in different projects to rapidly design certification-ready Autopilots and GCS.
-Role in the project
PITOM will bring its Pedestrian Detection technology and expertise in Autonomous Vehicles into Valet Parking Use case (WP1). Pitom will also coordinate the exploitation activities (WP6), providing direct communication with the Industrial Advisory Board members and stimulate the start-up of disruptive products based on HERCULES technological results.
–Technologies applied in HERCULES
We are supporting HERCULES technological advancement by providing vision-based Pedestrian Detection technology. The Pedestrian Detector architecture will be parallelized and will run on the specific hardware platform defined by the Consortium. It will be finally interfaced to Magneti Marelli Self-Driving Car to allow the autonomous valet parking.
